Well my books for class finally arrived....
The book is so heavy, I have not yet figured out an ergonomically way to actually read it. I am working with the idea of a hospital type table that I can tilt, can be at eye level and let me sit up straight!
who would have thought that would be the biggest challenge of this course....
Nutrition, concepts and contriversy...with my learning contract in hand and a commitment to spend a 1/2 hour a day with the book/study guide and various other elements in had...success is pretty much guaranteed.
This whole process had me thinking about different learning styles...in a recent conversation with a Friend of mine, a psychiatrist in New York City. We went to high school together as well as played in the high school band toghther....him on clarinet and me on bass clarinet but never mind that....
The conversation was particularly interesting in that we were discussing learning styles....you see he is in an analytic training program...very structured...and me..well this is again independent study....
When we went to high school we had the option of something called disks..these were classes that were independent study...a way to get class credit on your own....well my transcript was mostly disks..and his of course were classes....we are so different in learning styles...I love exploring subjects on my own...free to read at my own pace and NOT listen to the lectures of others.....(yawn) I find them terrible dull.
Any how...so far so good...my learning contract requires no class time...just the book, the exercises, a conversation with my mentor and off we go...on to the next.......
